Our Staff and Tour Guides
Not everyone can become a guide at Far Flung Outdoor Center. We look for the most ardent outdoor enthusiasts with many years' experience running rivers throughout the American West. Then we give them our own, Far Flung training, including extra knowledge in botany, geology, astronomy, and the history of Big Bend. In addition, all our guides meet a minimum 40-hour wilderness medicine certification that far exceeds Red Cross or urban first aid and CPR requirements. They'll row the rafts, lead the canoes, organize hikes, prepare lunch and make sure you leave with a greater appreciation for the history and natural desert beauty of the last American frontier. They'll even help you learn how to row or paddle, if you're tired of being treated like royalty.
